WHAT ARE THE LAWS REGARDING TRAVELING WITH A FIREARM THROUGH NEW YORK CITY?

I’m starting to be roving by New York City as well as I regularly take the gun with me when I’m upon the road. What have been the laws per bringing the handgun or the prolonged gun by New York City?

You must have a NY State gun license to carry a handgun in NYC.

Leave the handgun home. (Better yet, get rid of it altogether. Statistics say that, when you own a handgun, the person most likely to be killed with it is YOU. The next most likely person to be killed with it is your spouse. The third most likely person to be killed with it is your child. The next most likely person to be killed with it is your close friend or neighbor.)

I agree with the response from LJ. New York City has the toughest gun laws made evident by Mayor Bloomberg. If caught with a gun that is not registered, you can serve up to 3 years behind bars.

It is best to leave it at home.

FYI, A former New York Giant wide receiver named Plaxico Burress served time for carrying an illegal weapon in his sweatpants, the gun went off but fortunately, no one or himself was hurt.

New York has very strict gun laws. If caught I think the minimum sentence is 7 years in jail. It’s not worth the risk. Leave the gun at home.
