California has few regulations of knives, and none which would prohibit possessing swords in your home. It would be illegal to carry a sword concealed on your person (which is probably impossible), or to bring it onto school grounds or into a government building or airport, but it does not look like you are considering anything like that. The City of San Diego does not appear to have any ordinances regulating the possession of knives/swords.
