ARE THERE ANY FEDERAL LAWS DEALING WITH RELIGION IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS?

Are there any sovereign laws which demarcate sacrament in open schools, as well as if so, what do they entail? Thank you.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

You can clearly see if the government bans prayer in school, that they are prohibiting the free excercise of religion.

Check out the First and the Fourteenth Amendments of the Constitution, wherein lies your answer. This nation has Separation of Church and State, and public schools being funded by taxpayer dollars renders them “state.” The Supreme Court has UPHELD this Constitutional protection for more than 100 years now, so that should put the matter to rest despite all of the far-right-wings’ ongoing efforts to undermine our Constitution and inject their own psycho-pseudo version of “Christianity” (see zeitgeistthemovie for more details). The United States of America is not now nor has it ever been a “Christian” nation. We are a MELTING POT of all religious (or nonreligious) beliefs and one religion cannot be held to be above all others. Simple.

The U.S. Constitution, and many Supreme Court decisions. The laws deal with imposing religion on students by the school – however – the school can not stop basic religious functions -like = prayer before eating, if it does not interrupt other students. This is basic separation of church and state – which is the foundation of the U.S. Constitution – to be free of religious persecution.
