WHAT ARE THE LAWS THAT SURROUND PHOTOMANIPULATION AND SOMEONE ELSES PHOTO?

If I take the print from the internet, try by artful means to get it as well as put it upon my site, is this illegal? Are there laws surrounding how most altering creates the print serviceable upon your site?
“Yes, since fundamentally those photos aren’t yours to proceed with.”

Then how did the man get divided with you do the obama “hope” poster, which was not his picture.

Yes, because basically those photos aren’t yours to begin with.

There is no, defined, exact “percentage” of change that would make it legal to use someone else’s image and allow you to legally publish it online. That’s why these cases often end up in court for a judge or jury to decide.

Best place to START gettting your answer is to learn what the copyright laws ACTUALLY say, instead of relying on what random strangers on Yahoo Answers THINK they “know.”

Pay special attention to the section on “Fair Use.”

By the way, the guy did NOT “get away” with using the Obama photograph to make the hope poster. The original photgrapher is suing Shepard Fairey and the case is still wrapped up in the courts.

Simply, if you don’t want to run the risk of a protracted and potentially very expensive lawsuit then don’t do it unless you have the specific permission of the copyright holder.

The only people who gain from these things are the lawyers.
